Possibility o f a BMW M3 Touring to be in the offering acc ording to Autocar.
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
2019 BMW 3 Series Touring could bring first M3 estate
New ‘G21’ Touring will be more spacious than ever, and could be offered with a full M variant for the first time
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! will follow up the launch of its new !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with the inevitable !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! model, tipped for a likely reveal at next year’s !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in March. An M3 Touring could also be on the cards for the first time, too.
The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! rival, codenamed G21, will feature a rear-end design that stays relatively faithful to the outgoing car, while also mimicking the current !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ’s roof profile and tailgate angle.
The new estate will also benefit from pop-up tailgate glass, allowing small bags to be dropped into the boot without having to open the entire hatch. The boot itself is also set to grow in volume, just like the saloon.
The outgoing Touring offered up a 495-litre capacity with the seats up, and with the new saloon boasting a 480-litre load bay, the upcoming 3 Series Touring’s boot should offer more than 500 litres, putting it on a par with its main rivals. Expect increases in leg, head and shoulder room for rear seat occupants, too.
BMW has never officially produced an M3 Touring , but insiders at the firm suggest that it’s finally being considered as a rival to the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The development costs would be minimal, allowing BMW to justify launching a load-lugging M3 in European markets but not the US , where the estate isn’t generally favoured by buyers
So a possibility of an official BMW M3 Touring, but not the U.S. ‘where the estate isn’t generally favoured by buyers’.

It’s not nice to tease us with stuff we want, but can’t have (for 25 years)!

Unless ... I can get named a US consul for a foreign country and then import it as a “Consular Vehicle”.

in any normal situation, i would literally be jumping for joy at a fookin M3 TOURING!! But, with these modern BMW..... all I can say is, “meh”. Not sure why. I have no reason to. They are fantastic machines but, I don’t feel that same joy as seeing the inferior cars in comparison made from 78-05ish.
Y NO SIZZLE IN MY DIZZLE FROM BIMMER N. E. -MOAR ?

For me the last proper BMW M3 (or even BMW) was the BMW E46 M3 coupe, after that the BMWs became rather 'samey' with 3 Series looking very similar to 5 Series and even then nothing to really lust over.

tru fax sort of excluding 1M but tru fax. I mean, look at this bad boi:

I don’t like any of the 1 Series, coupes, hatchbacks, etc... someone I know had a few different bodystyles as courtesy cars while her 330 was in the shop. I didn’t like the inside or outside.
A guy I know has a completely unmolested 2002 (registered in 2003) BMW E46 M3 coupe in a very dark blue metallic, almost black in most light.

And that’s where I lost interest.
It has become too overpowered /capable to wring out on public roads anyway, so I was never among the target demographic to begin with .

The front-page commenters would hit critical-mad-online-mass if BMW chose to make an M3 Touring 6MT, sold everywhere but the USA.
That said, I want an ///M with the independent rear window too:

Ye’, that’d be fun to watch.
Imagine OPPO if they did a brown manual diesel M3 Touring!

They have that triple-turbo 3.0L diesel inline-6 from the X5 M50d. The EU-spec 320d tows 3500 lbs already, with the bigger diesel it’d be even better.

ohhh man that is pure fire!
My e36 M3 was black with a blue flake. Pain in the nards to maintain Svended but was mega in a nice day

The E46 hasn’t had even an after market car alarm fitted, never mind tuning, upgraded air filter, etc...
The same guy used to own a black E36 M3 coupe. It wasn’t hard to keep clean, I lived two doors away. Lol. Wrote it off going round a bend coming off a roundabout, someone had spilt some diesel right on the bend, he spunout, tried correcting, then un-correcting after seeing his correcting was going to take him into oncoming traffic.
He called it Black Betty, and when ever he said her name, I’d go, ‘bam a lam’, months later he asked why I did that. Turns out, he’d never heard of the song Black Betty. V ery strange.

hahahaha rad. Sucks it was written off. Indeed it’s extremely rare that the e46 is 100% unmolested. Wow, props to that guy

Yeah, I have no desire for a daily driver that has a gazillion horsepower and will throw you into a wall if you’re not careful. My ST is perfect IMO at 252 and if I had any car with double that power at a similar weight, it would be useless.
That being said, I wish they brought the S4 Avant here. A long roof with a bunch of space with 350 hp is perfect. I’m excited for the space vizzion.

At this point id settle for a G series wagon of any sort, and the 4oi configuration would be plenty for the US market.

I’d of thought you’d of gone for the Ford Focus ST estate, 2.3, 276bhp. If you had to choose a car that wasn’t available in the U.S.

I like the GLA,
but not the rest eg GLB, GLC, etc...

I saw one in Germany two weeks ago and loved it but with the issues I’ve had with both my st’s and my girlfriends focus I don’t think I could buy another ford, or else this would be #1 on my list.

Fair point really.
I like the new Skoda Octavia in estate form, supposedly a vRS coming out later next year.
Regular Octavia. Current vRS has 242bhp, so guessing about the same again.

I saw quite a few VRS over there as well. I was a big fan

I’m talking BMW g series. The new 3 that is actually the size of a 2001 5 series. The wagon would be a perfect size.

I keep forgetting when I’m outside of BMW discussion g and the model designations are not known

Towing ratings don’t tend to increase (in the EU) with a bigger engine. It is not engine power that limits the tow rating, certainly not considering how powerful base models are nowadays . AWD might influence it though.
![]() 12/08/2019 at 12:31 |

My understanding is AWD + more weight + bigger brakes (all components of making a //M50d 3 series wagon) could boost tow capabilities. But yes, just adding more torque is never a guarantee of more capacity.
